Mike Greenspire Has A Blog Here? Jake Long Newest Dolphin! Plus, Jared Allen Update
The Miami Dolphins sealed the deal on Tuesday, signing former Michigan OL, Jake Long to a reportedly 6-year contract, worth over $57 million! WOW! Immediate nickname: The Money-Maker.
This is a good move by Parcells and Sparano, locking up one guy 96 hours before he is to be drafted. It takes one more looming distraction out of the way this off-season.
Now, to the trade talks with Kansas City’s defending NFL sack-leader, Jared Allen. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear to be the strongest cnadidate in the talks right now. It seems to me that they might give up a second round pick, plus a current player to get him. Doesn’t sound like much, seeing as I believe this guy is worth a Top 10 Draft pick. Tampa Bay may be getting off easy with this deal.
Minnesota, I think we can count them out of being able to ldn him at this time. I think Allen would much rather be on a defense that flourishes with so much young and veteran talent. He would fit into M. Kiffin’s defense perfectly. The Buccaneers only gave up 16.9 points per game, and only 170.5 passing yards against per game all of last season.
Although their team’s defensive stats as a whole were in the Top 5, their rushing defense gave up 107 yards rushing per game. Allen could be the anchor that stops opposing RBs in their tracks. We’ll see, but for now, I predict a Draft Day Trade, meaning that this trade will be happening during the NFL Draft this Saturday, and the Bucs appear to be the big winners.
Thanks for reading! Take care!

Mike Greenspire, good to see ya blogging on RSB!
Good move by the Dolphins, sing-ability is a huge factor. I’ll bet the Raiders, or any other team, would have passed on Russell if they knew he was going to be such a pain in the ass to sign.
I think we as men, well the single ones anyway, should enact a contract with every woman we go out with. Here me out, on the first date she will agree to _______ by the _______ date.
If she’s unwilling to commit there is no reason to drop $100 for dinner.

HAHA! That’s hilarious! Thanks for giving me a new move once me and the lady are in the restaurant. I’m not sure how well that would work mixed in with a pick-up line, though. LOL!
Thanks for the warm welcome, Miracle! Take care!
Oh, man, I smell the burgers cooking. First cookout of the year, the weather’s finally permitting. See ya!

Not only was it good for them to get the contract out of the way, but I think they are smart to start their rebuilding with the O-line. They really couldn’t have made a bad pick though, as any of the top 3 or 4 guys could be immediate impact players.
I think you are right about the Allen deal. Could be huge for the team that lands him. Especially if they don’t have to give up too much. It’s the kind of deal that New England usually makes.

Welcome to the forum and I can only hope that your stay’ll prove to be productive.
As to the Long deal and Miami. This’ll no dubt set tha standard as to what many of these recruits’ll expect to get by way of a compensation package.
With regard to Jared Allen and the Bucs. The Bucs are a team that always like to make it seem that they’re interested in all of the potential free agents that come unto the market. More times than not they end up going the cheap route. And now that Shaun Alexander is out there. I wonder if there’ll be anyone out there that’ll be interested in him ?

That process doesn’t seem to be working at present. There must be some technical difficulty somewhere that’s been overlooked ?

Well Pacaman seems to have found himself in Big D and Jared Allen will find himself esconced in Minnesota. All of a sudden the Vikings do tend to look somewhat appealing. Now if only their qb Tavrias Jackson could show some promise this upcoming season then they ought to fare well.
